Fast growing distribution networks with high load increase often show similar problems in operation: High technical losses, meshed network structures and a huge number of assets are some of them.
In different studies the electrical networks of mega cities have been analyzed to optimize the network structure. In so-called Greenfield studies the system planning department of Siemens PTD SE PT made very good experiences when only the location and size of medium voltage loads will be taken into consideration for network planning. In these studies the existing network structure had been neglected.
The following paper presents the results of a Greenfield study for a mega city with 1200 MW peak load supplied by 220/33/22/11 kV networks.
