This paper presents the experience of some Latin America electric utilities in the implementation of its Distribution Control Center (DCC) projects. In particular, the article encompasses design and implementation of complex issues that may have a major impact on the project functionality and are not usually presented in technical literature. They include: Integration of the SCADA/DMS with Substation automation projects configuring a Protection Management System (PMS), Power Quality Management System (PQMS); SCADA/DMS interfaces with existing external systems such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Corporate Information Systems (CIS), Trouble Call Systems (TCS) and the like; DMS advanced applications such as Feeder Isolation and System Restoration (FISR), Distribution Power Flow (DPF), Voltage & Var Control (VVC), Outage & Crew Management (OM & CM), and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL).
