Hungary, a Central-European country with a territory of 93 036 sq. km, 10,5 million inhabitants, 16 300 USD per capita GDP and 6500 MW peak load plays an important role in the Eastern part of UCTE network. It borders on 7 countries (Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine/the former Soviet Union, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia), and has one or more at least 400 kV transmission line connection with them. The strongest one of these is the 750 kV transmission line Ukraine-Hungary.
After opening the European electricity market Hungary turns over a significant energy transit, sometimes 1500-2000 MW. Among such circumstances MAVIR Hungarian Transmission System Operator Company is forced to maintain the availability of its network, preventing the equipment disturbances with advanced diagnostics and avoiding and repairing the transmission line troubles with live working, with its special Hungarian LW technology and with worldwide used modern technologies as well.
